DIMITRI FROM PARIS

Return To The Playboy Mansion

***

Demented PBM02CD, £10.99
Dimitri is so stylish this sounds like it was mixed in the hot tub, smoothly switching from the shallow end into deeper house before getting to Marvin Gaye, 11 songs into this double collection. The remix of 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' with Tammi Terrell is a stand-out, but it generally feels more like mid-Eighties Mykonos than anywhere near Heffner's house. Classy enough to recondition Loose Ends and Gary's Gang alongside Marshall Jefferson originals, this is a fitting tribute to the innovators of the Chicago style, with some delicate Philly flavours for added tanginess.

Download this: Ain't No Mountain, Is It In (12" remix)
