Nicholas Richmond, 68, a retired architect from Polwarth, chooses his favourite spots for second- hand book hunting.
West Port Half a dozen bookshops within yards of one another – enough that they even have their own book festival.

Inverleith Row Several bookshops, and close to the Botanics to sit and read your new finds.

Southside Highlights include Tills Bookshop in Hope Park Crescent and Barnado's in Clerk Street.

Tollcross Not for specialist bookshops, but there are plenty of charity shops to plunder.

Christian Aid sale at St Andrew's and St George's Church Only comes once a year, but it's worth waiting for.
