No Fool For Trying

BRENLEY MacEachern and Lisa MacIsaac, aka Madison Violet, are two Canadians of Scots descent (Lisa's brother is fiddler Ashley) who produce beguiling vocal harmony rolled in a smoothly soothing production. This third album takes the two young women into another league. It's very easy on the ear, though often dark of lyric, and the studio session musos are as tight as Aberdonians. The songs, all penned by the duo, are maybe about pain, loss and suffering but there's no self-pity and no complaint.
