Unfortunately, not all the whaling ships are quiant old ones. Iceland is one of only three countries in the world still whaling commercially.
But there's little market for whale meat, and the country actually makes far more from whale watching than whale hunting.
So, instead of traveling to Iceland now, sign the Iceland Pledge promising you'll consider a visit, but only AFTER they stop whaling...

A delay in your travel plans could save a lot of whales.
Be welcome to Iceland and don´t listen to those fanatics that are badmouthing us for restarting a longstanding cultural tradition in perfectly sustainable manner (we are hunting two whale species far from endangered in our waters), just like all our fishing industry is perfectly sustainable unlike the European Union and many other countries fishing industries.
We know we have to live in harmony with the nature thus we would never take more than we know the stocks could replace and in the case of the whale species we are hunting it is far from denting their populations.
Just like the natives of the USA and Greenland and many other countries are continuing their cultural tradition, so are we as the natives of Iceland.
We never participated in the near extinction of the whales the Anglo-Saxon nations did and actually banned whaling in our seas in 1915 (long before other nations) for some decades to preserve the stocks. There is nothing wrong with whaling if it is not endangering their species.
