OPENING day at Broadwood and Morton arrived with an attacking 3-4-3 formation deploying Brian Wake, John Newby and Iain Russell in a three-pronged attack.
However Clyde threatened first in the third minute when Alan Trouten shot 15 yards but the effort was well saved by Colin Stewart. The former Livingston 'keeper was again called on in the ninth minute, stopping William McLaren's effort.

ll should have put the visitors ahead finding space in the danger-zone in the 11th minute but he fired his header straight at David Hutton in the Clyde goal.
A physical affair was epitomised when Clyde's Neil McGregor clattered into Jim McAlister on the half hour mark. Referee Chris Boyle showed some leniency in only booking the Clyde player.
Five minutes before the break Morton scored. A fine through ball by Russell was collected by the on-rushing John Newby. Despite his first effort being saved by Hutton, he managed to sneak the ball under the body of the keeper.

With the points looking to be heading to Greenock, Mark Brown headed Clyde's equaliser in the 90th minute and the match ended 1-1.
