SHE is hardly a household name in the UK. But Sharmila Tagore, the Bollywood actress and star of more than 30 films, is the leading lady of this year's Edinburgh Film Festival.
Since her debut at the age of 14, Tagore has become an Indian princess as well as a screen siren. She is married to Mansoor Ali Khan, the prince of Pataudi and former Indian cricket captain. Tagor, 63, is an ambassador for Unicef and was on the jury at last month's Cannes Film Festival. She is also not afraid to champion artistic freedom. The film Antichrist, called the most shocking ever seen at Cannes, is showing in Edinburgh next week. Tagor defended it, citing "freedom of expression".

She appears today in an in-person interview with former festival director Mark Cousins.
