Dress sense
What was your favourite childhood outfit?

It was a Spider-Man costume when I was four or five. I would have worn it all the time if I could. I still would now.

What were you wearing when you met your present partner?

It was nine years ago and I was wearing a white Nike T-shirt with green Maharishi combat trousers.

What did you wear to get married?

It was a sunny day and I wore a light blue suit, a blue tie and brown loafers.

Do you have Saturday night underwear?

I always wear Calvin Klein pants. My thighs are really big so I can't do boxers.

Prada or Primark?

To be honest, I think Primark is as good as any other shop. I think designer clothes are vastly overpriced. I do all my shopping on my twice-annual trips to the US. I take an empty suitcase and fill it up with clothes that I buy in New York and Los Angeles.

What was your worst fashion faux-pas?

Waistcoats. I used to wear them a lot. Although, I don't usually make a lot of mistakes as I'm a man who likes classics.

If you could afford any designer, who would you choose?

I'd go for a suit by Gucci or a bespoke piece from Savile Row. Either that or something by Vivienne Westwood.

Jonathan Wilkes stars in The Wedding Singer, 19-24 May, at the Edinburgh Playhouse (0131-524 3333, www.edinburgh-playhouse.co.uk). Tickets from £6.50.
