FOR the ultimate organic experience, look no further than Damhead Farm Shop, tucked away at the foot of the Pentland Hills on the outskirts of Edinburgh. A working farm of seven acres, everything grown and sold in the shop is organic. Anything not produced on the farm is sourced locally, where possible, including a range of meats, poultry and dairy products. A minimum of packaging is used and, of course, the food miles are a lot lower than supermarket food.
Customers are treated to a warm welcome and, after you've done your shopping, why not feed the farm's resident pigs? Who said food shopping has to be boring?
