Liver disease breakthrough

SCIENTISTS at Edinburgh University believe they have made a crucial development in progress to fight liver disease.
The experts say a "key hurdle" has been overcome in developing a source of liver and pancreatic cells, which could also help with treatment for diabetes.

Dr Josh Brickman, of the university's Institute for Stem Cell Research and MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine, said: "For the first time, we have found a way to generate and purify precursors of liver and pancreatic cells."
