Laszlo convinced he can put heart and soul into Jambos

Published Date: 17 July 2008
CSABA LASZLO revealed today he is convinced he can put the heart and soul back into the Tynecastle club after meeting with owner Vladimir Romanov earlier this week.
The Hearts manager, who did not have any face-to-face discussions with Romanov before agreeing to become the new coach, insisted the club has learned from past mistakes and that it aims to be more open and transparent with both its own supporters and the media in future.

Romanov has been criticised in the past for a lack of communication, for the club's eighth-place finish in the SPL last season and for the dwindling number of visits he has been making to watch his side in action.

However, after finally meeting with Romanov to set out their concept for the future success of the Edinburgh side, the former Ferencvaros coach insisted that he will give "1000 per cent" effort into returning the Tynecastle side to European football.

While admitting that the goal of Champions League football may still be some way off, Laszlo said: "I have spoken with Mr Romanov. We sat and spoke together and we both know that we have a very clear concept for the way forward for the club.

"I know 100 per cent what I have to do. The club owner, myself, my technical team and my scouting staff know what they have to do to make a better future for the club.

"We have discussed everything about players who we want and who will maybe leave.

"The important thing is that we work together and I appreciate that this is maybe a new idea at the club to work together. At the moment we are not here to discuss the past. It is very important to learn from the past. The last year has been very difficult for the club and the fans, there has been a lot of suffering. We have a responsibility for the fans to give something back and, believe me, we will work very hard to do that. We want to bring everyone back to Hearts. We want to bring even the media back. We want to show that we are a serious club, a good club and that we are there for the fans, for everyone and that we are open.

"We would like to get back into Europe and this is the target."

Laszlo was officially unveiled as the new Hearts manager at a press conference last Friday but, despite having just a few days to cast an eye over his players, he believes there has already been some improvement in his side.

And he vowed that, with the backing of Romanov, he can return the Tynecastle side to its glory days, adding: "I have been here only three days and maybe already in those three days I have helped to change things. And I hope that we can stay a long time together and bring more passion and more spirit to this club.

"If I don't have a target for my job, if I don't believe in myself, then I think that I must look for another job.

"I like this game, I like my job and I will give not 100 or 200 per cent to this club, but 1000 per cent to Hearts to make them better.

"The most important thing is that I know the team and the club is behind me. I don't only talk about Mr Romanov. We are not here to damage this club, we are here to bring this club upwards."

These are all signs of encouragement for me and with only two friendlies played i think that Csaba must have seen enough of the players now to see the sort of flaws we have in terms of personel and also the players who will be essential to the moving forward of the club.

Actions speak louder than words however and i look forward to seeing these very astute sounding observations being turned into much needed improvments.

Interesting reference to the scouting system 'my' being the interesting word... this would suggest to me he will be allowed to bring in his own players as well as utilising the contacts of Vlad's like Barbosa... This was what allowed Burley to get it right on the park. Well that and his being a very good manager, lets hope that Csaba is also a good tactician.

Germany will be an acid test.

I am hoping that after two years of HIS way not working that Vlad will be the business man that he is reputed to be and be true to his word.

"the club has learned from past mistakes"... Encouraging.

"The last year has been very difficult for the club and the fans, there has been a lot of suffering"... Encouraging.

It is only the second match of preseason though and the manager needs to see what he has to work with.

I would not hold too much impetus on such an early performance. i would imagine the next match we will see a smaller number of players used and some notable absentees as he streamlines and decides who has potential and who needs replacing.

Lazlo appears to talk sense and I beleive the players will respect him more. However, he can not make this squad finish in the top six.

Seven or eight starters, of better quality than we have - are needed if we are to do anything this season.

We said it yesterday about Csaba, the guy certainly talks the talk, lets hope he can walk the walk, and more importantly is allowed to do it. Swaying heavily towards renewing at the moment, however I will wait to see what happens re players coming in and players being punted....that was my stipulations for renewing my ST as well as a new manager, I wanted to se the deadwood shifted and players willing to play for the jersey being brought in.

"Laughing stock"

Oh dear... the Hibs fans i have heard from seem a little more concerned about their own team just now mate... Many are fearing (and i quote from yesterday) "...a sore a*se and that is even before the Jambos get started..." perhaps if you showed a little more concern over the disgracefull mismanagement of your own team instead of spending your time obsessing with your rivals' then you could all get 'TOGETHER' and do something about the short changing that is taking place at Hibs.

It is not your spelling i am criticising Riley... It is the fact that you don't seem to speak English.

Spelling is not an indicator of inteligence or IQ.

It is your inability to form coherant and inteligable sentences... You just type the first thing that pops into your head and unfortunately that is usually something totaly insipid and nonsensical.

Will need time, support and patience to turn us around.

Sorry Jambo Germany will not be the acid test.Hopefully will be the start though...

Realise directed at #10 & not what you asked but IMO the following were the WEAKEST links;
WALLACE: Harper had him on toast. Lacks pace to play full back. AUDRY K.: looked disenterested. STEWART.: overall poor performance.(toomany World Cup balls to players that were not there. McGOWAN: although i have championed him he was well out of his depth(realise only a boy)
However biggest area remains upfront. When we did hold possesion/move the ball(more so in 2nd half) continuiosly broke down in last third due to a lack of quality/options.

Hi CJ,

Good to hear the views of someone who was there, hence my original question.

In your opinion (if you were manager) what you do about the perceived problems that you have identified.

Stewart one for me is difficult as if you leave him out he may get petulant and cause ructions in the dressing room but if he is not performing then you can't have a liability on the park... i have remained behing the guy in face of much criticism but concede this is his last chance probably to be what he can be.

Still i stand by my acid test comments as i feel it is too early to press the panic button... He has tried most of the players now and he will no doubt have a better idea of their individual attributes, i suspect we will see something more similar to his idea of shape and personel in the next match.

A few new additions with experience, organisation, good coaching and increased confidence (a major factor in our poor performances IMO) and we're jammin.

Itll take time, it woudl be ridiculous to expect a major change from last years performances in such a short time period. we are a young team and booing them at every mistake is not goin to help...tahst not supporting the team.

If there is no improvement after Germany maybe then we can have some concerns.

I for one am optimistic.

Jamboy: i have known Michael stewart as a player since he was 9.The best young player i witnessed in my 12 years coaching youth clubs but there is no doubt that there is an attitude problem.IMO too much of a 'prima donna'.
Laszio will already have worked out ,what the supporters already know,what we need to get to the level we aspire to;
Another Goalie/2 full backs/centre half/bob to box midfielder & 2 forwards. Of the 7 new signings they have to be experienced/proven players.
HOWEVER realise an unrealistic wish list & the obvious priority is to sign 2 experienced forwards & a left back.Surely not an unreasonable target? If we get them we WILL end up 3rd & hopefully build a platform for younger talented players to progress/o add the other players the following season.

#93 Not much!

#90 You don't think it's worth a comment, and if that's the sort of baws you're going to come out with. I suggest you keep all future comments to yourself too.

88 funny was thinking the same thing. Can't be more than one or two bampots, too similar. You can spot them a mile off regardless of the stupid name used.
The cloner is definately sergina the clown with no brains.

Really good article.
Speaking to the press on a regular basis about things related to the team is all the majority of the supporters have been after.

Interesting to note that since we parted company with a PR company the PR has been top notch.

I would also imagine that a few agents around the globe who previously wouldnt go near Vlad with Bileys are lighting up the previously well used fax machine.

Gorgie Boys - that's kind of what I was alluding to with my earlier post about complaining - I slagged off Sergina for cloning me on another post, and my post got deleted!!

There can only be one or two people in the world whose lives are so meaningless that they derive excitement from trying to wind up people they've never met and likely will never meet. You really have to have a lot of empty brainspace to be kept occupied by that sort of thing.

98 I suppose in a strange way it's a compliment that the fruitloops are that interested in our club.

I, (and probably most folk) have little or no interest in what's happening at anyone elses team other than when Hearts come up against them as opposition.
These same creeps have infested the Hearts stories now for as long as i can mind reading online articles, very boring sad cases with nothing else in there pathetic lives other than to pester honest Jambos

#99 I don't want to accuse anyone of anything. But if that is a clone:
1. Very quick
2. Quite funny
So well done.

This coming season for Hearts is going to be one big toil,

Anyone know how many season tickets been sold.

"The Ugandan Football Federation is threatening to take legal action against Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo.

They've notified FIFA and the SFA - claiming Laszlo absconded from duty and is guilty of breach of contract.

The Jambos boss has been given three days to reply to the intention to be sued.

"That is the first step we have taken, we know we are not wrong and have done everything on our part", Rogers Mulindwa said at the FUFA weekly press conference yesterday.

He also blasted the coach's conduct in the run up to the Hearts deal.

"He absconded from duty and only sent a fax message informing us that the vehicle he was using is parked in the yard", Mulindwa said.

FUFA told FIFA that they are yet to get any official communication from Hearts and that Csaba still had two more years on his contract.

FUFA would have had to pay £173,000 to sack Laszlo, while the coach was due to pay £60,000 if he broke his contract."

Exactly as i said yesterday when the EN reported this story claiming Hearts would be sued or liable. Csaba May or May not have breached his contract, either way Hearts are not responsible as this article proves....And how could he have absconded wasnt it reported by both parties Hearts had been granted permission to speak to him?

Anyway, I await the apologies from those yesterday who wrongly accused Hearts here and were so quick to jump down Vlads throat and say Hearts and Vlad had acted illegally "Again"

At least one good thing He can work a Fax machine, maybe that what impressed Vlad abuot him

"He absconded from duty and only sent a fax message informing us that the vehicle he was using is parked in the yard"

#106 I dunno. Not sure Vlad would want him if he knows how to send a fax. He doesn't like people who answer back!!

Interestingly, a slightly different story on the BBC site:

"The Uganda Football Association (Fufa) is threatening to take Hearts' new manager Laszlo Csaba to Fifa for a breach of contract.
Csaba quit as the Uganda coach last week to take over at the Scottish club.
"He is still our coach because he did not give us the three months notice as stated in his contract," Fufa president Lawrence Mulindwa said.
Fufa says it will be writing to football's world governing body, Fifa, in the next 24 hours about the matter.
Mulindwa is also angry that Csaba left suddenly, saying: "He didn't hand over the house, car and other items before he left.
"We are professional people and hope that Csaba also behaves in a professional manner."
Fufa says Hearts have so far kept silent over payment of a compensation fee of around US$120,000.
Eight foreign coaches have already shown an interest in taking over the Ugandan team ahead of their next 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Niger."

So come on Fufa. Did he give the car back or not???

GrahamL,

And, more importantly, is your President called Roger or Lawrence???

#108 they're 2 different people IIRC
One's head of the FUFA, the other the PA guy for the FUFA.
I don't know if they're related

Still, we do need to find out what's happened to Laszlo's car...

#111 GrahamL "Still, we do need to find out what's happened to Laszlo's car..."

Didn't you hear? It was transferred to Kaunas and then loaned to Hearts. We don't own it but we're paying £20k a week for it while Romanov pockets the proceeds etc etc etc

Maybe some of the players who seem to be taking life for granted at Hearts should be sent to Uganda an other footbsll back waters .
Let them hone there skills away fromn the pampered lifestyle here.

Respects

#113 Of course. It's so obvious now!
The whole "new manager" thing is just a smokescreen to let Vlad get his hands on a 1978 Ford Cortina, which he can use to chauffer Kaunas players around and bill to Hearts. What mugs we have been!!

#100 GF - definitely wasn't me man, I'll only resort to childishness with those who are childish to me!

That's how to tell - basically if it's insulting in any way to anybody that hasn't just posted something completely moronic, chances are it's Sergina. She's just taken the h*mp again recently as I've started to have a go again.

Second attempt at posting this as "h*mp" is now a banned word. Annoying but should help stop some of Riley's shenannigans!
