Published Date: 06 August 2008
DANISH striker Mike Tullberg has rejoined the Hearts squad as he looks to win a move to Tynecastle from Reggina.
The 24-year-old pulled out of the club's training camp in Germany with a thigh injury, but he had done enough to impress manager Csaba Laszlo.

Tullberg is available for transfer after failing to make an impact in Serie A following his move from
Aarhus last summer. He has undergone treatment on the slight tear in his thigh and has flown into Edinburgh.

"Mike has come back and we will now have another look at him," said Laszlo. "Hopefully he is over his injury and he can work with the team. After that then we will decide on his future but he is a promising player."

Laszlo has been handed a boost, meanwhile, with the news that Lee Wallace has returned to training. The left-back trained yesterday morning after being sidelined by a calf injury suffered in Germany.

Hearts were forced to start winger Andrew Driver at left-back during the 1-0 friendly win over Hull on Sunday, before youngster Johnny Brown came off the bench for his debut.

Wallace vied with Jose Goncalves for the position last year but the Portuguese player has been loaned to Nurnberg for the season. So Laszlo is pleased that Wallace, 20, is shaping up to be fit for the visit of Motherwell in Saturday's SPL opener.

"We have some injuries at the moment but the good news is that Lee came back to training today," Laszlo said. "If he suffers no reaction then he has a very good chance of playing.

"He has had the problem for a little while but he has responded to treatment."

Makela got a barrel load of goals in the reserves last season so i think he deserves a run of games in the 1st team. Dunno why he didn't get a shot last year, maybe his fitnesss wasn't deemed good enough?

#3 Agree with that, Makela should get a chance and would be nice to see what MT turns out to be like. Jammie Mole isnt my cup of tea, but Laszlo seems to like him too so maybe there will be a development in his game - god knows he needs it!

#3. No, Makela did not get a "barrel load" of goals in the reserves last season, he hardly played any games for our reserves.

When he did return towards the end of the season I saw him playing a few times, he was hopeless. He was saw bad that Frail, McCann and Banks in the dugout were shaking their heads and holding their heads in their hands at Makela's antics, he was shockingly bad.

Edinburgh's Big Team,

EH11 06/08/2008 08:06:21
Makela is no football player but after watching the training session it appears he is the most natural goalscorer at the club. That wouldn't be hard right now all our strikers would look better with someone who can retain the ball / play with their back to goal and knows which runs to make. Hopefully Tullberg can be that link. Big Nade could play it if he was 2 stone lighter and had is guided a little by the new manager i.e. play the simple pass a bit more. Although not the biggest, the Brazilian from Kaunas had some ability. Dont think he get 20 goals a season but his control and delivery would definitely get more out of those around him.
13

GrahamH,

Edinburgh 06/08/2008 08:06:24
Tullberg seems to be only name under discussion by Hearts, maybe Freedland would be good back up. We need a new striker, everyone knows that but need back up for him too.

More Romanov mafia comments won't endear us further to SFA and SPL. When you see a team like Kaunus beat Rangers and know in SPL that that just would not happen, then can understand why he feels as he does.

See oor Vlad had a few good comments again last night. couple of nice digs at Rangers. Then the "Mafia" comment again. Can the SFA hammer him this time with a fine? He was speaking as owner of Kaunas last night in a UEFA competition. Loved his comment when asked what happens to rangers season now he replied "With such a performance you could play in Lithuanian championship" Haha.

Doubt if we'll see any of them back on JT's threads for a wile.

I like the way Laszlo is going about things. No jumping the gun to sign a player just because he's available and carrying out a proper appraisal of him.

i don't think Romanov's comments would bring any wrath from SFA he said nothing wrong and would have a good case against SFA if they tried.

Bak to the game well I woder why do we get so much dross from Kaunus when it is obvious they have better players. I like Mendi i thought he was to come here at one time. The Brazilian lad is good and he could take over role that Hartley had. the goal scorer too is a good strong back with a powerful shot. C Lis supposed to have the pick of them but can't see it while they are still in Europe.

"Whittaker (who has improved loads under good coaching)"

Vast improvement yes, he was class last night, made more passes to Kaunas players than his own team mates. Good coaching system at Ibrox..hahaha

"You play negative football, and have no flair, skill or class"

Im sure he was talking about Rangers with this comment, it would be more suited to them.

"people only see the names on the trophy
the circumstances of victory are always forgotten.."

Rangers name wont be on the CL Trophy or any Euro trophy now them will they? Will the circumstances of defeat be forgotten???? I Think not...hahaha

I wobnder what the bean counters at Ibrox are making of all this as you can bet that their budget setting process involved a run in one of the Euro competitions (if not both).

Perhaps they might sell one or two of their 28 strong strike force, after all, they only ever play one of them at a time.

Who?,

I don't know if Tullberg is the type of striker hearts need. They have enough players who can play outside the box but what they are desperate for is a goal scorer- Somebody who can actually put the ball in the net. Tullberg seems like another Nade in that he will command a huge signing on fee and salary but contribute little in return. He didn't cover himself in glory in denmark which is of a lower standard that scotland which also worries me about this guy.

On sunday audry missed an absolute sitter yet he is going to be first pick just like last season. If audry had scored 50% of the sitters he had missed last season hearts would have been top 6. Makela has been around for almost 3 years now, if he hasn't done it by this time he never will.

Laszlo should play mole and glen up front on saturday and have a real go at murderwell.

They have got a seriously large squad on the proviso of playing in the CL final this season..PMSL again.

Pretty sure a few of their players will be looking for a move now.....The only stumbling block will be wages and of course they WILL NOT sell to us.Might have to do a deal with a few EPL clubs and get them back up in January.

Head of the Rangers fan clubs - David Edgar said it has spoiled "The feel good factor left over from Manchester".
How the F*** can there have been a feel good factor from Manchester when Rangers LOST the final and their fans embarrassed the whole of Scotland AND the UK in the eyes of the world by their animal antics in wrecking the city centre and attacking all asundry.
HOW CAN YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT THAT EDGAR ?

Vlad celibrated the end of last nights match by waving a scarf in the air - NOT a Kaunus one , but a HEARTS scarf. I slate him often enough but on this occassion - HATS OFF TO VLAD. Dare I say his heart may genuinely be in our club ? Am I a simpleton for even thinking it ?

Mark McGhee has said that it is a shame (last nights result) as all Scottish football fans look forward to Old Firm European nights - willing both teams on to win.
What planet is this Celtic manager wannabe on.It's just the same Weegie theory that ALL other fans have a second team they follow/have leanings toward - Either rangers or Celtic - Wakey wakey - in the West it might be true - but in the East and North - BULL5HIT - nobody cares .

Finally
A panel sits this morning as to david Obua potentially being allowed to come to Tynie - what chance now after Vlad knocked out the establishment (Rangers football association-SFA) last night - What chance now after Vlad told the same establishment off and ridiculed them. Absolutely none. As it was before yesterday.

Braes of Glenmiller,

Relieved in a city centre in Europe not being visi 06/08/2008 11:18:06
Fair do's to the bluenoses that have turned up, and very little troll static all round this morning except the usual ignorable trash.

Rioters were awful last night. No ideas up front, Miller ran around "in the channels" but no finishing power. Passing; giving the ball to a teammate. Please remember this next season! Wee Ally will be back off to QOS soon. He's being replaced by Parks of Hamilton, then RFC will be guaranteed at least one quality coach.

Glad they're gone with the songs, attitude, and general behaviour that lets Scotland down every time these people are let loose on an unsuspecting European city.

Vlad, I think your comments and behaviour last night has ensured that the RFC/SFA appeals panel wouldn't give a work permit to Robbie Neilson never mind Obua.

Good to see what happens when an ordinary team plays another ordinary team without the help of "place in heaven" McCurry or his chums.

Pic in the Record this morning showing lots of green seats with a Wigan player in front. Wasn't aware it was played behind closed doors last night. Still it's good practice for the Hobs to get a taste of the atmosphere as it will be at ER all season. Clever move by the "management".

Mixu's down the barbers as we speak, getting his head shaved and having "clear the hair talks".

If only the rain would stop it would be a perfect day.

Stop accusing us of being bigots - you're making a complete tool of yourself.

Who the f*** is Alek Ahauf?? Can you show me where the pro-BNP posts are cos I have no recollection of seeing them.

Apart from that, I see your manager, McGhee, has come out and said it's a disaster that rangers are out. Nice to have a boss who sucks the old firm boaby, eh??

There arent any, his usual response when confronted with truth about himself is to lie about Hearts or Hearts fans, you should know that by now m8, its not the first time and wont be the last time he has lied or exagerated truths, the thing is, everyone and i mean EVERYONE on these forums know what he is like and see him for the sad pathetic little man he really is, its just a shame he doesnt realise himself.

It's like arguing with a simpleton. You know you shouldn't but sometimes you have to say something!

as for a murderwell 'fan' accusing us of bigotry....you couldn't make it up.

Spot on.

Anytime anyone whether prtending to be a hearts fan or not has said anything bigotted or sectarian they have been shot down by myself and many of us, you know that and i know that.

That fool the presbyterian or somethng the one going on all the time about Ireland, gets blasted everytime he shows up here.

Whats even more foolish about pimpgimps comments about anyone even me condoning BNP comments or supporters etc is my GF is Asian, making my kids half Asian as well. But thats lost on him.

He's had a productive year telling us how much of a shambles our club is and now he has changed tack to accuse us of being sectarian bigots.

It's pitiful but I suppose we must humour him.

What really gets me is that he is the ONLY non-rangers fan around who seems upset they got knocked out last night and actually sees it as a chance to have a go at Hearts!

Embarrassing!

#92 No point in arguing with anyone from the west. Their thought processes are entirely alien to the rest of the country.

Like the moronic comments about Hearts being the feeder team, kaunas having a better Euro record than us...id guess he hasnt checked the euro records of the two clubs, or actually how many players have been sent to us by Kaunas, cant see how were the feeder club when its their players that have been sent to us, even other fans of other teams have called kaunas Hearts reserves or feeder club, that inculdes hibs fans, celtic fans even rangers fans....the moron has his own agenda as you say that agenda has been failing big time recently and now he is switching tact...that will also fail

hello scotsman,

i know you like to be first with the stories....

hearts have a new assistant manager, Werner Burger.
it was announced yesterday but you seem to have missed it. just thought you might want to mention it at some point ??

to save time and trouble, do the usual and copy and paste the story.

On the subject of late stories.

wonder how long it will take them to run a Vlad bashing piece after his post-match comments.

the BBc were quick off the mark so cue another cut and paste job like the asst manager one.

Oh what a beautiful morning,

Oh what a beautiful day.

I'd usually support any Scottish team in Europe (yes, even them) but so, so glad to see this particular team take a huumping. Especially after the Manchester debacle. Any comments this season from Bears about Hearts playing negative 'hoofball' can be laughed at with impunity now!

Kudos to Jealousy, Jealousy though for being the only Gers fan so far to admit the truth this morning.
