Glasvegas Christmas Deluxe Edition

Columbia GOWOW013, £12.99

The mannered miserabilists presumably think having to buy the debut album all over again to secure a copy of seasonal bonus 'A Snowflake Fell' is the ultimate irony heading into recession.

These songs indulge James Allan's devotion to Phil Spector's Christmas album. But do they measure up to the Spector classic standard? 'Please Come Back Home' best echoes that splendour, but 'F*** You It's Over' is more clichéd than Christmas itself.

The Concentus Choir make the reworking of 'Silent Night' the most affecting thing here.
