RECORDED in front of a live audience at the Bongo Club in midwinter Edinburgh, this concert generated enough energy to heat the whole city. The nine long, engrossing tracks, including three of Kris Drever's stylish tradition-based songs, Martin Green's harmonically precipitous accordion, Aidan O'Rourke's dangerous, emotive fiddle and Drever's endlessly explorative acoustic guitar, raise and lower the musical dynamic with uncanny empathy, quality, and an intensity that is rare in the diddly diddly world. Essential listening.
