The veteran American saxophonist and clarinettist Bob Wilber was mentored by the legendary New Orleans jazz king Sidney Bechet, and on this CD the fruits of his own labours as a teacher are showcased – in the shape of Nik Payton. The young English clarinettist and saxophonist more than holds his own in Wilber's company, and evidently shares a passion for lyrical, swinging, soulful jazz. Suitably classy accompaniment comes in the form of Richard Busiakiewicz (piano), Dave Green (bass) and Steve Brown (drums).
