FOLLOWING on from the last two months of proper party action at new home Cabaret Voltaire, the Tokyoblu team are back tonight for their 2000th member party.
Having reached this great landmark, the club are promising to give whoever signs up to become the 2000th member a year's free membership to Tokyoblu, a champagne reception at next month's installment and loads of other goodies, including CDs and T-sh
irts.
If you haven't been to the club before, this should be a cracker, judging by how electric the last two have been.
As ever, the night will feature a live set by the Tokyoblu band, who promise to debut another couple of brand new tunes in the build up to the summer release of their debut single.
Doors open at 11pm, and entry is £8 before midnight, and another two quid thereafter. Sign up to become a member and further discounts apply. And who knows, you might even be the lucky 2000th member.
Elsewhere tonight, Xplicit, Scotland's leading drum and bass events, play host to Pendulum at Potterrow.
After a sell-out event last March, this time they return for an end-of-year student party.
The biggest name in drum and bass, Pendulum are featuring at every big festival around the UK this summer, from Glastonbury to T in The Park, so be prepared for a massive event. As this night takes place at Edinburgh University's Student Union, all non-students will be required to bring ID with them to get into the event.
Doors open at 10.30pm and it will cost you £13 to pass through to the other side.
There's a double whammy of drum and bass on the menu over at Liquid Room tomorrow night, kicking off at 7pm with the excellent Shapeshifter.
Having conquered the southern hemisphere, New Zealand's finest now have Europe firmly in their sights as they come to the Capital for a one-off show. Twelve sheets will get you into that one.
Following Shapeshifter's set, the Victoria Street venue will re-open its doors for Stereotype Motel at 11pm, when the club's resident deck-spinner Huggy welcomes Kris Menace, highly respected DJ/producer and owner of the Compuphonic and Work It Baby labels. Menace is fast becoming one of the most respected names in electronic music, with musical mavericks such as Felix Da Housecat and Jagz Kooner all wanting to work with him, while the likes of Pete Tong, Laurent Garnier, Erol Alkan and Annie Mac have all been bigging him up. Don't miss it.
Special guest DJ Thomas Schumacher drops in at weekly Wednesday-nighter We Are Electric next week.
Schumacher is billed as a non-purist DJ and producer who swaps between house, techno and electro within his sets.
He claims not to represent any style in particular, opting instead to create his own unique style. And that diversity has become his stock in trade.
The doors to this Cabaret Voltaire-housed club swing open at 11pm, with entry free before the witching hour.
