This photograph, taken last December, shows the sun going down behind the hills overlooking Galashiels. "I was working in another room at the back of the house at the time," says Alistair Wilson, a primary school teacher in the town, "but luckily my wife, Sheila, called me through to see the unusual mist and the slanting rays of the sun. As soon as I saw it, I ran for my camera and took lots of photos."
Can you do better than this? We are looking for the best amateur photography in Scotland. The choice of subject – people, industry, nature, scenery – doesn't matter. The pictures just have to be eye-catching.
