THE REAL FOOD CAFÉ, Main St, Tyndrum, 01838 400235 Daniel Brittain-Catlin is another RFC fan – with a modest caveat. He says: "I ate there last Sunday and as usual it was of a very high standard.
I entirely agree 'excellent food cooked and served by a very enthusiastic staff' entirely sums it up. What I would ask is a very slight expansion of its menu to include say grilled salmon or steak with peas/chips or mash/grilled tomato to enhance the
menu. It is quite hard to find something hot on the present menu which is not either a pie or in batter."

Peter and Maureen Maybank said last week: "If there is another fish and chip café of this quality in rural Scotland, we have yet to find it."

NORTH BERWICK FRY, 11 Quality St, North Berwick, 01620 893 246 Up to No 2 after backing from Ellie of Musselburgh: "I only go to North Berwick three or four times a year but always go to the Fry. Fish and chips always freshly cooked and always superb!" A wistful Donald Carmichael said last week: "I remember the North Berwick Fry serving the best fish and chips when I was a boy in the 1950s. I had some last week and the quality is still the best."

MHOR FISH, 75-77 Main Street, Callander, 01877 330 213 Consistent support – including this new one from Alastair: "Great place which never fails to satisfy." Sandy Bell called it a "brilliant little fish and chippie".

PITTENWEEM FISH & CHIP BAR, 5 High St, Pittenweem, 01333 311258 Down to No 4 – no new supporters – and vulnerable to local rival the Anstruther Fish Bar if it can win fresh votes. Doug Dear still thinks Pittenweem is "the real thing… fish is as fresh as fresh can be" – and Fife's best .

ANSTRUTHER FISH BAR, Shore Street, Anstruther, Fife, 01333 310518 Maureen Murphy loves it and said the Ritz couldn't do better, but she's had no new support.
