BROWN BROTHERS, www.brownbrothers.com.au The Brown family have been producing wines since 1885 and are now a fourth-generation company. What started as just ten acres has developed into vineyards across Victoria, with a diverse range of climatic regions, allowing Browns to develop a comprehensive range of wines, styles and blends. They keep a kindergarten winery for experimentation.
APPELLATION WINES, www.appellationwines.co.uk Appellation Wines specialise in wines from the lesser known regions, and aim to provide customers with those great, unique wines that one often discovers on holiday but can never find in
the UK. The Avignonesi (Vino Nobile di Montepulciano) 2003 – £16.69 – is a must-try.

PROVENANCE WINE, www.provenancewines.com Expert supplier of eco-friendly French wines sells châteaux wines from small independent makers. Purveyors of bag-in-box packaging – easier to recycle, takes less energy to transport and keeps the wine fresh for four weeks after opening – perfect for camping or when you want just one glass (does that happen?)

ERRAZURIZ www.errazuriz.com Errazuriz family wines have been producing the highest quality Chilean wines for more than 128 years. Don Maximiano Errazuriz founded Vina Errazuriz in 1879, and it is now run by the sixth generation of the family. Their Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon –£12.99 – is a fantastic red.

HENDERSON WINES www.hendersonwines.co.uk Henderson wines is Edinburgh's independent wine shop, which won Scottish Independent Off-licence of the Year 2004 from Scottish Grocer and Specialist Off-Licence of the year 2006 in the Scottish Local Retailer Awards. If you are looking for port or plonk, claret or cassie, sherry or champagne, Henderson's has it all, and will be able to give you some great advice along the way.

The Château Musar, at £14.99, is a Bordeaux-style blend from the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon – rather bizarre, but certainly worth a try.
