IWISH to speak to you this morning about the death of the electric guitar solo. My controversial thesis is prompted by seeing Antonio Forcione, a Spanish guitar player, at the weekend. The Burd is a fan, but I hadn't heard of him. This proved embarrassing. We'd to wait in a huge queue. The Burd went off to get some money or a hat or something, and a passer-by approached me and said: "What are you queuing for?" And I replied: "I don't know."
I couldn't remember the performer's name, and the passer-by left, looking at me as if I'd just landed from ooter space. However, I enjoyed the concert, and was struck by how Señor Wotsisname attacked his nylon-struck acoustic guitar like it was an el...
