HEARTS have welcomed Danish striker Mike Tullberg to their training camp in Germany. The 22-year-old is on trial from the Italian club Reggina and is expected to feature in tonight's friendly match against Kaiserslautern.
Manager Csaba Laszlo is keen to reinforce his attack before the start of the new SPL season and Tullberg, who stands 6ft 2in tall, would offer a physical presence to the Hearts forward line. He will be assessed during training sessions and games before the club decide whether to pursue a transfer.

Tullberg has failed to establish himself in Italy since joining Reggina last year but will hope for a fresh start if he can impress the Hearts management team.

Right annoraks... Do your thing, enlighten me.

What is this guy like? Any good?

WOW! We are actually signing and looking at players... What the hell has happened here??? What have you done with Hearts?

Must have had something about him to get to Italy but apparently not enough to stay there, perhaps the SPL may be the right place for him. Another google search beckons.

Certainly look like a positive one for you guys. Young and in the squad of a Seria A team, cant be bad I would imagine.

Not the deadliest of strikers - 12 goals in 60-odd games according to wikipedia - but, as has been said, he can't be all bad if he's been given a chance in Italy.
At least we're bringing in trialists, letting a manager assess them, then decide they're worth signing. Changed days indeed!

Not got much to say about this guy, just trying on my new user name for size...

I am a bit sad to see the back of Albert Kidd's 86 Allstars though as it did make a few of the manky broon persausion get quite hot under the collar...

But as George Harrison himself once said, All Things Must Pass...

Sounded like a player with prospects however looked at reviews and he has scored very few goals compared to appearances. Hope Hearts won't be making same mistake again by signing second rate players. We need a quality player! Who can score Regular Goals?

One review from Europe sports website:-

He must be the biggest joke in Italian football. He couldn’t even establish himself on a bottom team from Denmark, then he scores 1 great goal and he is sold to Serie A.

Not an 'anorak' but from what i've read this Tullberg dude is not the goal scoring machine we are all hoping for. He's more like a younger less refined Ed Jankauskas... able to hold the ball up for others... which is apparently what Shabba is looking for!

He did score a 'wonder' goal which is what took him to Serie A and Reggina but has done sweet FA since! Deemed not good enough for the top Italian league so may well be a star in the SPL!

I'd prefer if we were buying a proven goalscorer however... Nade, Makela and Glen will not bring us many this season... but you never know... Nade and Makela could yet turn out to be the dream team (and we all know Glen will get better and better)... they have both shown in flashes that they possess some quality touches and finishing!

I have just this morning renewed my ST so i'm hoping for the best under Laszlo; and now that my mini protest is over regards renewing, I am cautiously optimistic for the season ahead!

Although all that may be symptomatic of laughing all night long at the flair team being humped by a Barcelona side barely out of 1st gear; in front of the smallest crowd at Muddyfield in years!

Flair, lets draw a line under that myth now eh?! LOL

;-)

Get familiar with that position bud... i've a feeling you'll be there for a while yet!

As for Yogi... he ruled himself out of taking the easter road hotseat last time around as he wanted to do right by Falkirk, whom he said have been very good to him... plus he's built a decent team and has a few promising guys coming through... possibly the new flair team???!!!

LOL!

Hibby Heapy,

#15, couldn't agree with you more. We need to forget the new stand and spend the money on sone decent players, starting with a new goalkeeper, midfielder and a new striker.

Suspect I will be assuming the position right through to teh end of the season next May.

All I can say is thank God for Hamiliton and St.Mirren.
17

Chas Niceass,

Suddenly I cant wait for the new season to begin. I wondered my sanity in buying the season book.
Not saying that this trialist will be the answer but it does seem things are moving and in a more desirable direction.
I like everything Mr Lubbaman has to say, hoepfully his teams performances will mirror his wise words, roll on Aug 9th.
Perhaps my mood is even better after last night, but fair play to Hibs, Barca only scored 100% more goals against them than us and their attendance was just a mere 150% down on the game with the Big team, surely today we wont have any dispute on that....will we..... Bombs Away!!

The annoying this is that Mowbray and Burley's teams - had they been kept together - could have pushed rangers into 4th.

Still think Celtic are playing at a slightly different level and they still have the spending power to make that important purchase when they need to.

But, nah, it is a shame that both Edinburgh clubs are where they are just now. I suppose its the problem for clubs of our size, though we have this jibe with the Hibs punters though we are a wee bit bigger its not really enough with the size of the 2 b*ggers above us.
It leads to financial pressure one way or another.
I've said all along as long as the club doesn't do a Leeds, Dundee or Livingston then I'm fine with some level of debt as long as theres something to show on the park.
I daresay the last 2 years were the price of the year one before for Hearts but there seems to be a better structure appearing again and the huge wages will go.
Both clubs though have stood firm and got good prices for their players but I in the darkest days its not really a consolation, I mean its not buying me a fast car and keeping me in loose women is it?

Not concerned at al, as long as there not GIVEN to us. If what Csaba says is true and thats how things are being done, with him looking at the players and cherry picking the best, then im happy with that, as at the end of the day it's Csabas choice. Lets just hope he's right and being allowed to choose players he wants rather than Vlad giving hmi players and being told to get on with it.
36

GrahamL,

25/07/2008 13:34:27
#33 Nope. Not concerned. Yet.
As long as Csaba is making the decisions he can bring in players from Kaunas, Ripo, or play Vlads Mum up front. As long as the manager has free reign to pick his own players/side then I'm happy.

Reviews of Tullberg are not good!
I read a Danish fan's comment saying that he didn't establish himself in a poor team in Denmark but scored one wonder goal and got a move to Serie A based on that. He's since done nothing of note in Serie A apart from crock Reggina's best player in training.

If he was half decent and playing in Serie A, you'd think he would have got a sniff of the Danish national squad, but nothing going.
I could be wrong but I don't like the sound of this one!
38

Chas Niceass,

#33 I'd say its par for the course now. I'm not overly concerned, I guess we have to accept it. Some of them are good like Velicka (grrrr) and some are rotten like Barasa, some are frustrating, all 3 wingers.
Its not going to be like the Burley years again, if Vlad can cool his jets by not sending them over en masse then its not so bad.
Lets face it all the abject failures have gone, I still think Pilibaitis came too soon and might have had a chance in time, wrong place wrong time for him.
Zaliukas will be ok if coached, I hope.

Trialist is the whole point, if he shows up and does well then he will be signed if not then he wont.

Like the idea of Gow as a potential signing, he has both technical ability and goals with hunger to play.
Maybe a snip at the price quoted but could just be paper talk on that one.

I've got my fingers firmly crossed for this season, but surely even with your optimism JB you have to be worried Vlad wont be able to resist a meddle or crave the limelight at some point, which usually ends up in stories like "Tick Tock" and the word implode seems to be used a lot. Not to mention Smoke n Mirrors.

I am concerned about the possible influx of players from Kaunus if they are brought in purely for cover as before... cheaper than buying here.

However, if there are a couple of notable performances against the gers in the CL qualifiers then they may be worth a look. I am prepared to trust Shabba and hope Vlad will to.

I still don't see much wrong with Vlad bringing players of higher quality through Kaunus to Hearts (like we did with Bednar for example), as long as they are definately going to enhance the team.

We are again being linked with the likes of Riordan, Gow and Killen... would they enhance the squad? Maybe they would... but they haven't exactly done much with the ugly sisters have they?!

The players Shabba brings in will no doubt be from europe/africa... as thats his/Vlad's area of expertise... I doubt we'll see any from the spl/england as our coaching staff will have had little exposure to them.

If we are hoping to see more Scots in the team (always) we'll have to rely on the youth coming through... anyone coming in I suspect will be requiring a work permit!

Gow is just happy to be a sub in the Rangers reserves and pick up his £15k a week I think.

No team in the spl/championship is going to pay Gow that kind of money so unless the gers pay him off so that he is financially secure... he'll never move.

A complete waste of a career... which is what frequently happens to a young talent when they are lured away by either of the ugly sisters... just ask Ritchie, Thompson, Murray, Riordan, Killen, Boyd, Webster, Miller... etc etc

I can take your point re Riordan and Killen but the rest?

Thomson is an integral part of the Rangers team, Boyd was a regular up until last season, the fact he is no longer is down to his poor conditioning, Webster never left for Rangers and hasnt had a chance through injury and say what you want about Miller but he has carved a good career for himself and is probably the 1st pick striker for Scotland.

So why do the Rangers fans resent Miller and boo him? Decent minded people like yourself at least have the decency to see a good player, Like him or not Miller sticks the ball in the net (Maybe not when at celtic but did their policies/tactics suit him?)

Boyd is being wasted, how many more times does he have to prove himself to be a regular first pick? or could it be coisty is scared Boyd might eventually break his record?

Personally i wouldnt boo one of my own, certainly not when he has hardly played. Ok Miller isnt the worlds greatest player but his attitude is 1st class. There are a few players in Scotland, and not just at Ibrox who could learn from him. To be fair though his goal scoring record at club level is poor.

Boyd is a strange one. Yes when he plays he scores but mainly against smaller teams. And he cant play in a 4-5-1. That has been proved.

Also he is clearly overweight and not in peak condition as is Charlie Miller.

Was referring to Steven 'ThomPson' who was great for Dundee Utd then warmed the bench for Rangers for 2 seasons!

Boyd will always be 'supersub' and subsequently never be a 1st choice striker for Scotland... In the Kirin cup he was top goalscorer and was the subject of several clubs interest to take him away from rangers for about 6 million. He didn't want to leave and since then his form has been yoyo-ing something chronic... yes he can score goals but languishing on the gers bench on a fat wage he has become lazy and has lost the hunger that made hime the player he was.

Miller was terrible for the gers 1st time around and was off loaded fairly quick where he then went on to create a good career... when he came back to the tic he was poor at best... he is not a great goal scorer but he does put in a great amount of running for scotland... time will tell if his second stint will be any better, although the fact the gers fans don't want him back speaks volumes... and i doubt it is only because he played for celtic... he just doesn't score enough goals.

My point is... for every KEVIN Thomson or possibly even Scotty Broon (although he can't get in the team for Hartley and Robson now!) there are several Deek Riordan's who's careers take a nosedive when they take the big bucks road of the OF!

If Scotland had a few more players like James McFadden who headed South and avoided the easy route of the OF... we'd have a far stronger national team!

And just why is Boyd looking out of shape? not playing every week isnt going to help. I could name quite a few players over the years that have went to Rangers and within a season or so have looked totally unfir/overweight etc, a prime example of this would be Neil McCann, he must have put on ar least a stone after he moved, his pace slowed right down, which was what made him such a good winger. Not many full backs could match McCann in his hayday m8

Sorry mate wasnt concentrating.

Thompson did ok for Rangers. Ok he didnt play every game but scored a few goals and definitley made a positive impact.

Anyway he got himself a move to a good club from his time at gers so i dont see your point on that one.

Boyd hasnt always been a "supersub" mate. Last season was unfortunate as he didnt fit into the formation we played. He has been challenged to step up, improve his conditioning and work on his all round game. So far he hasnt doone this. Time will tell if he does.

As someone else said, a lot is to due with the players attitude. If he moves and develops a big time charlie attitude the chances are he would do the same irrespective of which bigger club he moved to.

Again mate, is that the clubs faults or the player's?
They are profesionals and adults, no wee boys.

I thought McCann did well for us. Best crosser we've had for years plus scored twice in the legendery game at Parkhead that won us the title.

I'm not bad ta' Eddie, yourself?

I probably would have missed you had it not been for the PIMPERNEL/RileyHamish/FlairGun guy to keep me amused.

For the record if the Bebo thing is true then i actually agree about Mackle.

Holy Communion? I don't actually know what that is sweetheart, please do tell.

I suspect you may have been Riley all along BTW but i will just observe before making up my mind.

Meet any nice boys in Spain?

One of us? How many of the current Hearts team were brought up supporting Hearts as a youngster? What team these days is filled entirley of thier "own". Fitba's a different game nowadays.

I can totally see your point if what you say that boy did is correct i would not be happy at that either.

Whether its right or wrong a lot of players do the whole badge kissing thing. I dont even like it when certain Rangers players do it. It does happen frequently when players get caught up in the emotion of scoring and personally im not going to permanatley condemn him for it.

I remember thinking if I was an Aberdeen fan that i would be spewing after watching that moron Diamond blowing out the candles on his celtic cake pasted all over the sunday rags but if we have a player on the books who actually went to the stage of calling us scum then what can I say?... he should go now before he lands us in it at a later date.

The terrorist thing?... Just as bad as you and your pathetic little agendas really to be perfectly honest... Scumbag eh?

As for the boys thing, I just thought that you seemed like someone who is a bit angry and maybe had a dark secret that was troubling them... You know denial and all that but if you say you don't then that will do for me.

So hunting in Africa then?... tell me more where were you and what did you shoot?

#7. Scottish referees will call foul and disallow it for dangerous play, because he plays for Hearts and/or because he doesn't play for Rangers.

I was Jamboy, fell out with Mixu, booted off, became jamboi, fell out with you, got booted off, becamr the Moth, fell out with riley, got booted off and now i am Jamboy again...

I think i will not make the same mistake again by indulging in 'heated' debate with people i think of a s scum again... Although i do miss the Moth tag... rather liked that...

As for the safari... I am jack's utter sense of disbelief!!! still just goes to show that there is some good in everyone eh?

Good on you I can't see what someone would get from shooting a lion or a hippo... I'd like to see them take it on with a small knife or something now that would be worth watching!

what a chancer,

hook 25/07/2008 16:24:12
if he isnt any better or just slightly ahead of what we have already then leave him alone,we can only take ones that show promise to improve as any other striker at this moment with skill at our level has been signed up,take one that wants to use us as a stepping stone let him thrive, prosper and wish him well as he exits for a better league.

EddieMalofeev - why are you such a bigoted knob?
Decent Hearts fans, are you not ashamed of this moron?

By the way Kenny Miller never kissed the Celtic badge....fact.

You are just a lying peice of scum.

Yes i am ashamed of guys like him but he is persistant and can't see what is wrong with his ideas.

I have given up trying to reason with him when I was forced to change my pseudo after getting booted off when I took offence to his racist comments.

Good luck with it but to be honest he is prob just the same loony that calls it's self Riley/Pimpernell/FlairGun etc.

Blank him and hope the moderator does his job.
96

Mr Majestic,

25/07/2008 16:52:21
It always amazes me when Hibs and Hearts fans call the old firm the bigot brothers.....what a laugh. You lot have sectarian bigots the same as the OF. You just don't have as many as the OF because you don't have many fans. Hypocrites.
97

GrahamL,

25/07/2008 16:54:48
#94 Yes, I'm ashamed of him. Not as a Hearts fan, but a decent human. Bigotry and racism have no part in any civilised society, and splitting it down into football teams just masks the problem.
But - as Jamboy said - he's been here before and got bored and went away. If no-one rises to his bait he'll disappear bank to his bunker.
98

Mr Majestic,

25/07/2008 16:56:54
#97 - and what about comment 96, you didn't say anything about that.
99

GrahamL,

25/07/2008 16:59:25
#98 Umm. What do you want me to say? I've never referred to Celtic or Rangers as the bigot brothers. But the behaviour of their fans is frequently shameful.

Are you ashamed of _EddieMalofeev_, the unsavoury elements of your clubs support and all their ilk?

Look pal, you are obviously a bit new to all this and you probably don't remember the guy but myself, Graham, Victor, Indi, Gorgies Finest, Ronaldo and a good few others all told him exactly what we think of him... i was booted off for doing so because I was so insulted by what he was saying I took the bait.

If that means we are all bigots then I think you are just a bit thick.
101

Mr Majestic,

25/07/2008 17:04:45
#99 - of course I am but at least I admit there are idiot supporters but Hearts and Hibs fans pretend that their fans are blameless.

The first time I went to Tynecastle, when I was about 8 a Hearts fan ran right across the Haymarket and jumped a fence and spat right in my face. Lovely fans.

I also hear Robbos is a right friendly bar to visit on a trip to Edinburgh.
102

Mr Majestic,

25/07/2008 17:06:03
#100 - Eh, where did I say you were all bigots?
103

Jamboy,,

Edinburgh 25/07/2008 17:09:22
You were implying that by not shouting him down we were condoning his behaviour... unfortunately we have to rely on a patheticaly inept and slow moderator for this as we will get booted off like i was last time for letting him know what we think of him...; Feel free though mate... Bash on eh?
104

Jamboy,,

Edinburgh 25/07/2008 17:11:43
You never called us all bigots, fair enough but to suggest that we condone his actions is innacurate and it p155ed me off.
105

Mr Majestic,

25/07/2008 17:14:01
I didn't imply that at all. I said that the Edinburgh teams had bigots too.

Anyway, I'm off home.

Have a good season although I don't think the "bigot brothers" will be too worried about the challenge coming from Edinburgh.....do you?

I remember my first visit to Darkheid, walking out that flee ridden pit of a stadium at the time walking down to where the buses were parked through an avalanche of abuse by thousands of celtic fans, over the mound where the buses were parked only to be met by glasgows finest on harseback charging into celtic and hearts fans, why there were hundreds of celtic fans down where Hearts buses were parked ill let you decide. Then driving out all but 4 of our bus windows were smashed, one guy had to go to hospital to recieve treatment on a cut from the glass. and it took us nearly 3 hours to get home

All in all a very enjoyable trip i must say.
107

GrahamL,

#101 Nice bit of tarring with the one brush there.
"I'm condemning the idiot supporters of my club, but no Hearts fans do the same, so you're all just as bad."

Grow up. I've said already I don't agree with that sort of cr*p, if you choose to ignore that to make yourself feel superior you go ahead. I couldn't give a rats ass.
I'm going to make myself feel superior by getting myself out of the office at a sensible time for the first time in god knows how long.

Good weekend all. And lets hope the boys give a good account of themselves against Kaiserslautern tonight.

Sorry for the late appearance chaps, been out in the sun today.

Just popped on to let the Hobo's know I have spent the day pi55ing myself laughing at their joke of a club. And they have the cahoney's to come onto Jambo threads.

I feel your pain, i really do.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I have a lovely photo of the scoreboard at Murrayfield reading, "Hearts 1 - Barcelona 1". Didn't stay like that I grant you but it's a damn site more enjoyable than an absolute trouncing by a team that probably didn't break sweat.

I feel your pain.
