A MAN aged 55 from Aberdeen has been killed in a fall in the western Highlands.
He was walking with two friends at about 4pm on Saturday when he plunged into a burn at the foot of a waterfall while descending Beinn Sgritheall.

One of his companions alerted the emergency services, while the other climbed down and dragged the man out of the water.

A rescue helicopter from RAF Kinloss was summoned and the victim, who had suffered head injuries, was given first aid before being flown to Belford Hospital in Fort William.

However, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
