This week's recommendations:
• The Reach Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2007 – £7.99 Tesco. On the nose it shows ripe passionfruit and guava, balanced by a great mineral acidity. A refreshing aperitif.
• Gran Tesoro Garnacha Rose 2007 – £3.19 Tesco. Don't be put off by the modest price tag – this is a real cracker. It explodes on the palate with ripe berry fruit and a hint of spice. The perfect barbecue wine.

• Tesco Finest Nero d'Avo
la 2006 – £6.13 Tesco. Packed full of juicy plum and blackberry flavours. Perfect with grilled meats and roast beef or lamb.

• Sainsbury's Era Costana Rioja Crianza – half price from £9.99 to £4.99 until July 22.

Intense cherry red colour. Aromas of oak ageing with hints of spices. Full–flavoured, with well integrated, long–lasting tannins.

• Sainsbury's Cuvée Prestige Côtes du Rhône Villages 2006, Caves St Pierre – £4.29. An excellent rosé from the Rhône Valley with a fruit-filled bouquet matching its palate filled with the taste of summer fruits.

• Sainsbury's Taste the difference Sancerre 2007 (£8.99) – Won the Sancerre Trophy at the International Wine Challenge 2008. It has an elegant, restrained gooseberry fruit style with a hint of minerality.

• Sainsbury's Casa Mia Pinot Grigio (£5.15).

The taste on the palate has a sweet, ripe tropical fruit approach and excellent length. A crisp acidity gives the wine freshness and balance.

Bottle of the Week
Tesco Finest Fiano 2007 £6.13 With lively citrus fruits and orchard fruit aromas, the palate is rich yet fresh with red-apple fruit flavours and just a subtle hint of spice and honey on the finish. Perfect with seafood or roast chicken
